Oh the garlanded one, oh sweet talker, oh the causal one for the entire world,
Oh Lord of the five elements including water and earth,
Oh Lord who is meditated upon by philanthropists with charitable mind, oh destroyer of all sins;
along with those who have been doomed to the southern land of the God of Death as punishment for their obsessive attachment,
is it fair that my soul is also ordained to that perilous state without discrimination? Kindly protect and bless me!
Although I am vicious, may I not become virtuous before I am consigned to fire in the cremation ground?
Oh my friend, oh grantor of Your devotees' wishes, oh Lord with an abode in the long serpentine mountain called ThiruchchengkOdu*,
You are the child of Lord SivA who sports a garland of bones, and You wear the garland of kadappa flowers;
You relish the millet-flour soaked in honey offered by Your beloved, famous and deer-like VaLLi!
Oh effulgent one, You are the famous child praised by all in the world!
Oh Leader, oh handsome one, oh my king, oh Lord, You are the Lord of all celestials, oh Great One!
